Meet Elizabeth

I'm a working Mom

So concerned about the direction of our state, I've decided to run for office.

Life is about timing. While running for State House has been on my radar, a demanding career while raising young children took priority (the two working parent juggle is real). After departing my finance career at the end of 2023, I began to explore opportunities to increase my community involvement including volunteering with the Crossett Brook Middle School winter program and being appointed to the HUUSD School Board. However, it quickly became apparent that my skills and experience could be leveraged to help solve our looming state challenges. One introduction led to another, the idea caught on, the support has been overwhelming, and here I am.

I've been a resident of Waterbury for 18 years where I live with my husband and two children who attend Harwood Schools. When I'm not on the sidelines cheering for my children (Go Highlanders!) you can find me on my bike and finding any other way to be outside in nature. Professionally, I continue to build my business consulting practice focused on advising financial services companies committed to helping communities and improving financial wellness.

I came to Vermont from a rural town in Massachusetts in 1996, graduating from UVM’s School of Business. Vermont immediately felt like home, and while I was encouraged to pursue professional opportunities outside of the state, I managed to stay. As many Vermonters and aspiring Vermonters know, finding a challenging and rewarding career in Vermont is tough, and often requires "exporting" their knowledge and services. Let's change this.

I spent over two decades working nationally for financial services companies. Most recently I spent seven years working at TIAA, a global financial services provider which has its roots in helping to solve the financial needs and challenges of those in the education, health care and not-for-profit sectors. I have extensive experience leading teams in building multi-year strategic plans, working with stakeholders on budgeting and financial management, evaluating and overseeing large capital programs and projects, analyzing changing regulatory requirements and creating actionable plans, developing clear communications for various audiences, and gaining input to build consensus.

Reflecting on the skills I've developed professionally, these are the same ones required for a well functioning legislature. Something we all deserve.
